SF Sketchfest Dozen: Mohanad Elshieky & Joyelle Nicole Johnson
Mohanad Elshieky is a New York based, Libyan born comedian who made his national TV debut on Conan and has been featured on Comedy Central. A writer/consultant on the hit podcast "Lovett or Leave It", he was also one of the hosts of Lemonada’s webby nominated podcast "I’m Sorry", where each week they unravel the latest and greatest in twitter gaffes, petty beef and not-so-subtle shade. In 2018, he appeared in an episode of Epix’s "Unprotected Sets" and was listed as one of Thrillist’s 50 Best Undiscovered Comics. Mohanad has a special skill for making you laugh at the seemingly unlaughable. The Libyan-born comedian combines a deceptively laid-back demeanor with his whip-smart perspective on politics and culture. The Portland Mercury called him "an undisputed genius of comedy," and he's been featured on podcasts such as "Pod Save the People" and "Harmontown". He also toured across the country with the critically acclaimed storytelling show Pop Up Magazine and worked as a digital producer for Sam Bee’s critically-acclaimed show "Full Frontal". Elshieky zeroes in on topics that seem off limits - then surprises you with how hard you’re laughing. Follow Mohanad on twitter @MohanadElshieky.

Solo Spotlight: Brittany Carney: Kingdom Phylum Ass / Rachel Kaly's Hospital Hour
Brittany Carney (Adult Swim, HBO) has a sh*t sense of order. Scattered, sure. In her show on ADHD, animal taxonomy, and a third theme, Brittany combines standup and visual media—she invites you to join her in finding structure, but more importantly, to consider a wombat’s colon. Hospital Hour is a show that explores why Rachel Kaly is obsessed with going to the hospital all the time. And for the record maybe it’s because she’s extremely mentally ill. And maybe that’s because she saw 9/11 happen and she is estranged from her father whose cab she hailed once. Only an hour of this show will tell.  ($30, All Ages)

Comedians with Disabilities Act
The Comedians with Disabilities Act is a fabulous collection of comedians who have disabilities, both seen and unseen, and bring forth the humor they find in their experiences. The show is the brainchild of comedian Michael O’Connell, who started the group in 2010, and was later joined by Steve Danner and Nina G, not long after. In 2016, O’Connell sadly passed away - but the show he created lives on, spotlighting a variety of Disabled and outrageously funny comedians. With Michael Beers, Steve Danner, Nina G, Loren Kraut, Hayden Kristal and Jade Theriault, Hosted by Mean Dave. ($25, 18+)

Facial Recognition Comedy
Facial Recognition Comedy (FRC) is a nationally touring stand-up show featuring female-identifying performers of MENASA (Middle Eastern, North African, & South Asian) descent. The show was created as a response to tokenism and underrepresentation in entertainment, and to let everyone know that we are NOT the same person!

FRC has had bicoastal residencies in NYC and LA, and was listed by The New York Times as one of the top 5 shows they were most excited to see at the NYC Comedy Festival. The show has also been mentioned in Deadline, Daily Beast, Vulture, Screen Rant, Backstage, and more.

Facial Recognition Comedy is executive-produced and hosted by comedians Fizaa Dosani, Zahra Ali, and Pallavi Gunalan. With guests Shanti Charan, Abby Govindan, Meg Indurti and Mahesh Kotagi.

SF Sketchfest Dozen: Emma Arnold & Katrina Davis
Emma Arnold is an Idaho backcountry-raised comedian, writer, artist, and beekeeper. She has five albums with Blonde Medicine, and two comedy specials on YouTube, one of which has over 1 million views. Forbes Magazine once called her, “One of the most hardworking comics in the industry,” but that’s no longer true. Equal parts outrageous, thoughtful, engaging and honest, whatever the medium, Emma's work is electric and straight from the heart. When not touring, she lives in Boise with her husband and three giant sons, where she keeps bees and children with varying degrees of success.

Stand up comedian Katrina Davis had one of the most watched videos from Comedy Central in 2022. She serves as comic relief on the art history podcast "Podvant Garde", and has been seen on "America's Got Talent", Don't Tell Comedy, and the Seed & Spark comedy special "Everything Is Fine". She was also named a Comedian You Should and Will Know in 2023 by Vulture and New York Magazine.

Her first 1-hour comedy special, "Figuring It Out", was featured in NPR’s End of Year Stand-Up Comedy Spectacular on Bullseye with Jesse Thorn.

Interruption Show with Dalia Malek
Interruption Show is the stand-up comedy show and live podcast where comedian Dalia Malek and rotating guest co-hosts interrupt comedians mid-performance to ask burning questions, find out what happened next, and dig for backstories behind jokes. It's a peek into the green room where stand-up comedy meets choose-your-own-adventure. With guests Pallavi Gunalan, Virginia Jones, Veronica Kwiatkowski and Chrissa Sparkles. ($28, All Ages)

Interruption Show is a sell-out show and comedy festival favorite that has appeared regularly in LA, San Diego, & the SF Bay Area as a part of the Oakland First Fridays Festival and SF Sketchfest. It has traveled to the Ha Ha Harvest Comedy Festival in Portland, Machynlleth Comedy Festival in Wales, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, and will be appearing in the Leicester Comedy Festival in the UK in 2024.

Come see why both audiences and comedians keep coming back to Interruption Show. No two shows are alike!

“…Being interrupted and prompted with insightful questions will have you on your feet, creating on the spot or remembering older material, and fall in love with the craft all over again. Both audiences and acts should be giving the Interruption Show a look.”
– Funny Women, UK (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018)

“It’s great fun to do, and to watch. It creates a really warm atmosphere between performer and audience and opens up the routine and the experience that generated it into surprising new ideas.”
– Nick Revell, (BBC writer, actor, and stand-up comedian)

“Egyptian-American comic Dalia Malek, who cut her teeth on the UK circuit, hosts this format where she’s essentially the most irritating audience member possible…”
